Soft Story Inspection

We are a group of Specialists in Los Angeles with more than 25 years of experience In-House Engineering, Soft Story Retrofit, Foundation Repairs, Earthquake Bolting, and more in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Our main focus is providing our services to make sure your property is repaired, secured, and durable (following current regulations) for any seismic activities and settlements. We believe in building trust with our clients by helping them stay up to date with city ordinances as well as helping them feel happy and secure in their own homes.

Why should I Retrofit my property?

Your property is an investment and possible source of income. Some insurance companies have dropped policy holders if they have not upheld retrofit standards.

If you do not retrofit within the time period that the mandated ordinance says, you will be fined and a potential lien could be placed on your property.

The building will be flagged and you will not be able to rent the units to tenants.

Soft story building

A soft story building is a multi-story building in which one or more floors have windows, wide doors, large unobstructed commercial spaces, or other openings in places where a shear wall would normally be required for stability as a matter of earthquake engineering design. A typical soft story building is an apartment building of three or more stories located over a ground level with large openings, such as a parking garage or series of retail businesses with large windows.

In engineering, a foundation is the element of a structure which connects it to the ground, and transfers loads from the structure to the ground. Foundations are generally considered either shallow or deep. Foundation engineering is the application of soil mechanics and rock mechanics in the design of foundation elements of structures.

Retaining wall

Retaining walls are relatively rigid walls used for supporting soil laterally so that it can be retained at different levels on the two sides. Retaining walls are structures designed to restrain soil to a slope that it would not naturally keep to (typically a steep, near-vertical or vertical slope). They are used to bound soils between two different elevations often in areas of terrain possessing undesirable slopes or in areas where the landscape needs to be shaped severely and engineered for more specific purposes like hillside farming or roadway overpasses.
